Our vision to create an event space in the heart of Botany stems from our close personal ties with the area. The Brightspace Team are proud and passionate members of the Botany community in South-East Sydney. The family run business already operates 2 child-centred services in the local area: All Star Early Learners and Star Club outside-school-hours-care. We’re dedicated to being a valuable contributor to the community and providing exceptional services for the children and families within

Our event space is called The Brightspace because we want everyone who comes here to feel inspired and fulfilled by their experience. In everything we do, we ask ourselves if our visitors will leave brighter than they came. We want to inspire learning. We strive to instil confidence, create smiles and laughter, facilitate human connection and make everyone’s day better for having been here.
OUR AMAZING TEAM
Our amazing team of tutors, workshop facilitators and admin staff come together at The Brightspace from a variety of backgrounds. We have diverse skills in early childhood, education, art and business. But we share a common goal, which is to extend a warm welcome to our community.
Tutors
Hailey
Hailey is completing a Bachelor of Teaching English as a Foreign Language, a Masters in Cross Cultural & Applied Linguistics and also has 3+ yrs teaching experience. “An optimist builds an aeroplane, while a pessimist finds a parachute.”
Veron
Veron is completing a Bachelor of Mathematics & Science (double degree), he is a devoted reader, cricket enthusiast, and fitness fanatic! “I believe knowledge is invaluable and I strive to set students up for success and enjoy the learning process.”
Anjuna
Anjuna is completing a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science “I really admire the ability of the children I tutor to grow and develop new skills – watching them gain confidence and go from “I can’t” to “I did” is something I’m very lucky to witness.
Sophie
Sophie is completing a Bachelor of Primary Education and Special Education “Learning is like an adventure, it’s okay to make mistakes, they’re just stepping stones on our journey.”
Brooke
Brooke is completing a Bachelor of Nursing “Talent is like a little seed, and your hard work and determination are the water and sunlight that will make it grow into something amazing. Keep learning and never give up, because you have the potential to achieve great things!”
ARTISTS
Gill
Gill Cameron is a mural artist, Illustrator, and art educator -based in Bondi. She creates original artworks, limited Edition Prints and large scale murals inspired by her coastal environment and the characters in her community.
Gill has painted 2 murals on the Bondi Beach Sea Wall and has a permanent Mural in Perry Lane, Paddington, as part of the Perry Lane art project. She has been commissioned to paint many murals in private homes, has been a finalist in the WWAS 9×5 landscape prize 2021 and the ‘Inside this box’ exhibition 2022.
Kristine
Kristine Ballard is an artist and arts educator with a rich background in both professional design and fine arts. She helps artists personalise their work, manage their practices, and stay inspired. With over 25 years of design experience, she has also developed and facilitated art programs. Kristine specialises in one-on-one art classes and mentoring, and her own artwork explores contemporary still life and landscape themes. She exhibits her art widely and has received multiple art residencies. Kristine combines her design and fine arts skills to empower students at all levels of their artistic journey.
Dorothy
Dot is a versatile visual artist with a background in various media, currently focusing on drawing and watercolour. Her art draws inspiration from everyday life, capturing the beauty of ordinary moments, from her daily commute to gardening. Dot’s work combines vibrant colours, interior and architectural elements, and a touch of mystery, inviting viewers to interpret her stories. She has exhibited her art in solo and group shows in Sydney and has also curated exhibitions for the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Carlos
Carlos is a versatile art educator who believes in nurturing children’s creativity through various mediums. He creates a safe space for kids to explore their artistic imagination, drawing from his experience as an artist. With a background in graphic design, he’s engaged in commercial and community projects and has worked with displaced individuals and refugee children. Carlos also incorporates movement into his classes as a trained yoga instructor.
Mon
Monique, a Sydney based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, is known for her detailed work in drawing and animation. She’s curated exhibitions, contributed to sustainability-focused projects, and participated in Sculpture By the Sea. Her art often explores sustainability and consumerism, and she works closely with clients, creating meaningful pieces including portraits and landscapes.

Michelle
The Creative
Founder of The Brightspace, Michelle has a Bachelor of Industrial Design and a Bachelor of Education. She pivoted from design to education when she found an unmet need, after having her own children. She is a tireless advocate for children, staff, and the community as a whole and has led a number of exceeding early childhood education services. It is her vision to create a community hub to bring people together by inspiring life-long learning. When she’s not hard working, she’s working hard on her salsa skills.
Paula
The Thinker
With a Bachelor of Business, Paula comes from a marketing and product management background. Leaving the corporate world behind her (way, way behind), she’s loving being part of a small business and putting her various marketing and organisational skills towards something with greater community purpose. Loves all things dance and closet Lego enthusiast.
Antoinella
The Organiser
Antoinella is all things organisational, administrative and customer service with her many years experience behind the scenes of business. Professional, versatile but pedantic (which we love), she gets into the nitty gritty of the day to day to make things happen! One day she’ll be the mum of a Socceroo ????????.
